Wes and Robin Maynard started in the Restaurant business in 1988 in the small western town of Breckenridge, TX. After 4 years of operating in Breckenridge, they sold their shares of the business so they could move back home to Parker County and open a place of their own. The plan was simple - offer great food and friendly service at a reasonable price, do right by your employees and community, and success will come to you. The doors to the Mesquite Pit opened in April of 1993 and we try to reach those goals everyday. In 2000, our success allowed us to expand from a small place next to a grocery store to a restaurant the size it is today.
In 2008 Wes and Robin’s oldest son Jake Maynard was told he couldn’t live with his parents anymore, so he decided to build Mesquite Pit Mineral Wells.
This could never have been possible had it not been for the many years of support and patronage from our family, friends, and most importantly, our customers. So please, sit back, get comfortable, and enjoy a great meal with our family, and let us know if you need anything, because after all, The Mesquite Pit, first and foremost, belongs to you!

We think that the Mesquite Pit restaurants are about the finest eateries of their type in the area. We specialize in Mesquite grilled steaks and Bar-be-cue, seafood, family food and good old American favorites, including great cheeseburgers. Folks drive from all over to enjoy dining at The Mesquite Pit and we are always happy to see old friends and make new ones.
